– Hi this is David Laroche welcoming you in your new wake up calls daily inspiration. So let’s talk about the 10 setting goals mistakes. The first one is to set goals about others. For example, you have your parents and you get the goals of your parents, family socially friends and it’s not your own. You can’t be truly motivated by something that is not your own. First mistakes, underestimating the completion time. For example, you believe that you can lose 40 kilos in 10 days for example. Or you believe you can achieve all of these things in two weeks. So underestimating is a big mistake because usually you create the belief that you are not able to achieve your dream. That you are not able to achieve that and that. And it will be a link to another mistake. A third one is to set negative goals. When I do one-on-one coaching in France, people usually say to me “I do not want that” “I do not want that.” For example, I ask them what is important for you, what is your goal and what do you want? They answer, “I want my father not to do that. I do not want to be stressed. I do not want to have lack of self-confidence.” So they focus on what they don’t want and not what they want. So third main mistakes setting negative goals. Set positive goals about what you want. What is compelling for you. Fourth one is setting too many goals. For example, you have 40 things to do. And you can’t be focused because if your energy is not focused on the main priority for you. You will have the feeling the sensation to be, I don’t know how to say this, overwhelmed to have too many things to do. You have to focus on the main priorities for you. Fifth is do not write them down. You just tell I want that and I want that, and you do not write them down. Because if you write them down it is helping you to be clearer about the goal. And also to correct it and also be able to watch it every day. Sixth, do not make them measurable. For example, you just say I want to raise my salary. I want to grow my company. I want to be more self-confident. And if you can’t measure it you are not able to say “Okay I succeeded.” And there are two options, one you will be frustrated because you are not able to achieve what you want. And why? Because you don’t know when it’s achieved. And secondly you will not have motivation to achieve it because your brain will not see progress. And it’s very important for your brain to focus on the progress. A baby is able to learn how to walk because he is doing baby steps. So to do baby steps you have to be able to measure the progress of each baby step. Seventh, do not identify the next action. The process of goal achievement is the ability to take your goal, take your motivation and find the next right action and do it. The goal of a goal is to just help you to take action. So main mistake do not identify the next action. Eight, do not know why you want it. A lot of people want to create that and that, want to achieve this, want to become millionaire, want to become a superstar, but they don’t know why. And if you don’t have power for why you will not have enough motivation. You don’t become a millionaire if you are not motivated by money. So you can become a millionaire if you are motivated by something enough to become a millionaire. For example, if you are passionate about creating schools, hospital for people you will need money to create it. So money will come to you to help you to achieve the main why and it’s not magic it’s just because it’s motivation. And motivation comes from the most important things for you. I love to ask people, when they say to me, it’s impossible. If it’s about the life of your children do you find solutions? If it’s about your life, do you find solutions? If yes, there are solutions. Ninth, is to be impatient. Usually I am impatient. I talked a lot about that. Impatience is a main mistake about achievement, because it’s helping you to grow but you are achieving your goals and you are not happy. Because it is not enough, not enough, not enough. You don’t take time to celebrate each of your baby steps and you can achieve great things in being impatient, but the more you achieve, the more you will feel a kind of void in your body. So being impatient it creates a feeling of competition with people and competition with yourself. It can be good but if it’s too much you will feel stress each second of your life. And the last one is seeking perfection. That means seeking to create perfect goals. It doesn’t exist. For example, Martin Luther King didn’t have a perfect and precise goal. He found it on the journey. So take, mistakes think about it and correct the way you set goals today. And I hope it’s inspiring you to take action and achieve what is important for you.
